KELOWNA – It may be called the Little Hobo but it sure draws a big crowd. A small eatery in downtown Kelowna that serves up home-cooked meals to long lines of people every day is getting provincial attention.
“We’re very flattered. We are not chefs, we are home cooks. We cook every day what we would cook for our kids,” says co-owner Crystal Dougan.
According to the website TripAdvisor, the Little Hobo has been ranked the best restaurant in Kelowna. And out of almost 13,000 B.C. restaurants reviewed on the site by users, the Hobo is number one.
“We have the best customers and we thank them so much for putting in the reviews and we appreciate it and we are stunned,” says Dougan.
The latest publicity has suddenly left the eatery very busy.
“The last two days have been absolutely insane,” says co-owner Steve MacDonald, Dougan’s husband.

Even B.C.’s Premier heard about the spot and popped in for lunch Tuesday afternoon.
“Christy Clark graced us with her presence, so that was lovely. She came in and had a bowl of soup and a sandwich for lunch,” says Dougan. “I hope she enjoyed it.”
The Little Hobo first opened back in 1975. The husband and wife team bought it in 2011.
