WATCH ABOVE: Florida police say a 14-year-old boy attempted to arrange contract killing of his family. Jay Cashmere reports.
TORONTO – A 14-year-old Florida boy was arrested Sunday for trying to hire his friend to murder his father, stepmother and stepbrother.
The Port St. Lucie teen, who remains unidentified because he hasn’t been charged as an adult, was allegedly willing to pay his friend $400 per family member killed.
“He’s hated his family [since] he moved here three years ago,” Detective Paul Griffith told WPTV.
According to Griffith, the plan was to find and use one of the father’s hidden firearms and make the incident appear to be a burglary gone bad.
The plot was discovered by his father who had been searching through the teen’s clothes when he found a piece of paper with written details of the arrangement — a murder-for-hire contract.
According to the Palm Beach Post, the boy’s father acknowledged his son has a troubled past that includes threats against fellow students and was once caught for bringing a knife to school last April.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department has charged the 14-year-old with attempting to solicit murder.
