Grande Prairie man killed in collision

EDMONTON — A man was killed Sunday night in Grande Prairie after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a road.

Grande Prairie RCMP say officers were called to the scene at around 8:30 p.m. When they arrived in the area of 84 Avenue and Mission Heights Drive, ambulance crews were already performing emergency medical care on the man.

He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

Investigators say the man tried to cross an uncontrolled area and was wearing all black.

Speed, drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as possible factors in the collision. The driver of the vehicle isn’t facing charges.

The victim was a 45-year-old man from Grande Prairie. His name is not being released.
