City council to consider cutting vacant jobs as cost saving measure

CALGARY – City councillors will debate a motion on Monday that could potentially save the city millions of dollars.

Peter Demong and Brian Pincott are putting forward a notice of motion that will ask administrators to consider not filling vacant jobs within the City of Calgary.

There are currently about 700 job openings which could end up saving the city millions of dollars if the positions are not filled.

Demong and Pincott are suggesting a review of job vacancies be completed by next month.
