CALGARY – Police say a body discovered in the city’s northwest on Monday is believed to be that of a senior who went missing the night before.
Elsie Menzies was last seen at the Safeway in the 5000 block of Dalhousie Drive N.W. around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 1st, 2015.
Police say she suffered from dementia and wandered off from her family.
Investigators discovered a body in a green space in the 7000 block of Silverview Drive N.W. after they were contacted by a member of the public at 7 a.m. on Monday.
Although the body hasn’t formally been identified as Menzies, police say all indications are that it is her.
Investigators think she walked from the Safeway to the location where she was found deceased.
They say it’s a tragic incident, and there are no indications that her death is suspicious.
