Both directions of QEW reopens at Fairview Street in Burlington

TORONTO – The QEW has reopened in both directions at Fairview Street in Burlington after power lines fell onto the highway early Wednesday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police say a transformer fire caused a hydro pole to catch on fire which resulted in wires falling over the highway.

The closure happened around 4 a.m. but crews managed to repair the damage just after 7 a.m.

Traffic delays are expected as the highway backlog clears.
