HALIFAX – The funeral for the 19-year-old man implicated in the Halifax shooting plot will be held Saturday in Upper Tantallon, N.S.

James Gamble, of Timberlea, N.S., was found dead in his home early on Feb.13 after police surrounded it. The obituary notes he died on Feb. 12.

“He will always be remembered as our chubby-cheeked, freckled-faced little boy who was full of questions beyond his years,” reads an obituary posted online.

“He loved his family and adored his cats – Mama, Lilly, and mostly his cat, Toni, who was never far from his side.”

Police have accused Gamble and two others of planning to open fire in the Halifax Shopping Centre, killing as many people as possible before killing themselves. Twenty-year-old Randall Shepherd, of Halifax, and 23-year-old Lindsay Souvannarath, of Geneva, IL, were both arrested around 2 a.m. on Feb. 13 at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport. Police said Souvannarath was arriving at the airport.

Souvannarath and Shepherd each face charges of conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit arson, conspiracy to possess weapons, and unlawfully making threats to the public through social media.

The obituary for Gamble ends with a quote: “One awful moment can take a life, but never how much that life meant!”
