Toronto police say more charges have been laid in connection with an extortion investigation involving a Ministry of Labour inspector.

A man was arrested in June and charged with offences including extortion and breach of trust after police say a Labour Ministry inspector made an improper request for money after conducting a safety audit at a Toronto business.

Police say new alleged victims have come forward and their allegations have been investigated.

Joseph Ah-Hone, 55, of Toronto, now faces additional charges of breach of trust, extortion and accepting a benefit from a person dealing with government.

Police say they believe there may be other victims and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour says people should be aware that as public servants, its inspectors are forbidden to accept any money or commissions for their services.
