CARROT RIVER, Sask. – Mounties have suspended search operations for a possible missing Saskatchewan snowmobiler and her sister. The search started on Saturday after a woman received a call from someone named “Cassandra” stating they had crashed their snowmobile into a tree just outside of Carrot River.

“Cassandra” was attempting to contact her grandmother “Katherine Pierce” and told the woman she was disoriented and couldn’t remember the number. The number she was calling from was blocked.

Carrot River RCMP asked SaskTel for help in locating the callers’ location but they were unable to retrieve the information. Additional database searches failed to turn up any information on the caller or the grandmother.

A CASARA search plane was called in to conduct a search of the area and Mounties and civilians carried out a ground search. Police have also spoken with schools, checked hospitals and contacted members of the community in their efforts to locate the pair, with no success.
