VANCOUVER – Police say they’ve never seen anything like it.

A felon was found hiding inside a sofa in an East Vancouver home, where he was reported to be living after fleeing authorities in Alberta.

On Tuesday, the Vancouver Police Fugitive Unit, armed with a search warrant, entered the home and looked high and low for the 36-year-old. As officers began to give up hope, police dog Lupo began to focus his attention on the sofa in the living room. When officers lifted the sofa and removed the fabric, they found the fugitive hiding inside.

Even veteran police officers were amazed. “In my 24 years of police service, I have never in my career seen a suspect hide inside the body of the sofa,” says VPD Inspector Ian Upton.

Adam Harlock, who was on the run after being ordered to serve a three-and-a-half year sentence for drug offences, is now on his way back to Alberta.

Police say his new accommodations might not be as comfortable as the sofa.
