WATCH ABOVE: Just as Global News was reporting on a court case last night involving a hockey dad sentenced for threatening his son’s teammate, there was another disturbing incident involving the Burnaby Winter Club. Rumina Daya reports on what happened.
On the same day that a hockey dad with the Burnaby Winter Club was given a conditional sentence for threatening to kill one of the players on his son’s team, another disturbing incident took place with the team.

Burnaby RCMP Staff Sgt. Jon Buis say they’re investigating an incident that happened last night after a practice.
“The allegation is one person hit another person over the head with a hockey stick,” he said. “We believe they’re either 10 or 11.”
He says that while the investigation is in its early stages, its unlikely that anyone will face charges due to the ages involved – but that restorative justice is a possibility.
Len McNeely, the General Manager of the Burnaby Winter Club, says an internal investigation is underway. He says the two players involved have been asked to stay away from the team for the time being, and says all protocols were followed by the club.
“We’ve investigating the matter right now, and we have no facts to report at this time,” he said.
“There’s a lot of questions being asked of everyone involved.”
The boy who was allegedly hit spent the night in hospital and required several stitches, but has been released.
