NORTH VANCOUVER, B.C. – A 21-year-old hiker remains missing following a second day of searching by volunteers on Vancouver’s North Shore Mountains.
Liang Jin of Vancouver sent a text message to his father on New Year’s Eve saying he was going hiking, but gave no indication where he planned to walk.
A further search of his computer and Internet search history found that he was interested in the area of Lynne Headwaters and the Hanes Valley.
Bruce Moffat of North Shore Rescue says 38 members and two helicopters scoured the mountainous trails for two days.
He says the group is pretty happy with its coverage and is now handing the investigation back to Vancouver police to see if they can find more clues that could place him on the North Shore.
Police say they believe Jin took a bus to the North Shore from the city, but they say he could also be elsewhere.
