Nanaimo RCMP are searching for a 25-year-old prisoner who escaped during an interview Tuesday afternoon.
Alexander Trinkwon was being interviewed at the Nanaimo RCMP detachment around 3:30 p.m. when he bolted.
A “significant” number of police resources were deployed to search for Trinkwon, including a police dog. The dog was able to establish a track, but lost it on Bowen Road near Buttertubs Marsh.
Trinkwon was in custody, pending a court appearance tomorrow. He is facing charges of Possession of Stolen Property, Break and Enter, and Possession of Break and Enter tools. A charge of Escape Lawful Custody will now be added to the list.
Trinkwon was last seen wearing blue jeans, a t-shirt, and “stocking feet.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
