CALGARY – Police have identified the city’s latest homicide victim as a 34-year-old man.

Ronald Elepano was found suffering from stab wounds in the 5300 block of 5th Avenue S.E. on Monday morning.

“We believe that’s where the victim was stabbed,” said S/Sgt. Doug Andrus at a Wednesday news conference. “That he was stabbed on the roadway, and then moved to the sidewalk… where he was located.”

Elepano was rushed to hospital by EMS, but succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

Investigators say the man’s death doesn’t appear to be a random attack, and believe multiple people were involved.

Police say they have received some suspect descriptions from witnesses, but they are vague as it was dark at the time.

“We’ve canvased the area for CCTV video,” says Andrus. “And we are in the process of reviewing that video.”

“We’re in the early stages of this investigation. At this point, we have more questions than answers ourselves.”

Elepano’s death is the city’s 29th Homicide of 2014.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or contact Crime Stoppers.
