WINNIPEG: The logo for the 103rd Grey Cup features Investors Group Field wrapped up in a scarf and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers President and CEO says the choice couldn’t be more deliberate.
“Its about celebrating the amazing stadium we have,”said Miller at the logo’s unveiling Friday, “and say ‘you know what, we are embracing winter.'”
Last March many fans were surprised to learn the $210 million dollar stadium wasn’t actually built to operate in the coldest months of winter, so the province kicked in another $3 million to winterize the stadium.
Today Miller said heat sensors and additional insulation have been placed around pipes, to prevent them from freezing.
“We are good to go,” said Miller.
The Grey cup will run November 29th, 2015 and in the week leading up to it, festival organizers say there will be a series of concerts, a parade, as well as a street festival.
The stadium will also see temporary seats added to push capacity to about 40,500.
