Canucks blank Penguins; take back Pacific Division lead

In defeating a division leader, the Canucks once again became one themselves.

Brad Richardson scored two goals and Eddie Lack recorded his fifth career shutout as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-0 tonight.

The Canucks dominated the game, outshooting the Penguins 31-21. Their first goal came at 8:33 of the first period, when Richardson took a pass from Shaw Matthias off a Penguins turnover and beat Thomas Greiss from the slot.

The play would be reversed at 11:34 of the second period, as Matthias received a pass from Richardson off a turnover for his own goal.

Richardson would add a second goal two minutes later.

The win moves Vancouver to 18-7-1 on the season, and once again puts them in first place in the Pacific Division. Pittsburgh is now 17-6-2 on the year and are first in the Metropolitan Division.
