TORONTO – The City of Toronto is warning residents about fake notices being handed out from independent contractors about the city’s water services.
The city says it has received several complaints recently about flyers being distributed to homes by either placing them on door knobs or placed on lawn signs.
City officials say they do not conduct door-to-door sales of any kind or market products or services.
This includes companies offering health-based tests on Toronto’s drinking water quality.
The city wants to remind the public that they do not support or partner up with private companies in delivering the “Mandatory Downspout Disconnection Program or the Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy Program.”
