Calgary police arrest man in connection to McKenzie Towne gun scare

Calgary police have confirmed that 31-year-old Brian Blais, a suspect in a gun scare at a southeast shopping centre, has been apprehended.

Blais was wanted on a string of charges including assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, breach of probation and possession of stolen property.

The charges are in connection with a bizarre series of events.

On November 5, a man was involved in a crash at 130 Avenue and 48 Street S.E. in a vehicle that turned out to be stolen.

He entered a nearby Walmart where a few minutes later, employees confronted him after alarms went off as he tried to leave through an emergency exit.

The man then pulled out a handgun and after pointing it at three employees, he fled, only stopping to point the gun at another witness.

Blais is described as Caucasian, 5’8” tall, 180 lbs., with a medium build, brown hair and brown eyes. He has the tattoo “BRB” on the back of his neck.
