VANCOUVER – A disciplinary hearing is set to wrap up today for a Kamloops dentist accused of professional misconduct.
Doctor Bobby Rishiraj is being investigated in connection with a teenage girl who suffered a heart attack while he was removing her wisdom teeth two years ago.
The girl’s family says she now suffers from permanent brain damage.
The College of Dental Surgeons alleges Rishiraj used sedation drugs without proper training and didn’t properly monitor his patients during surgery.
Despite the allegations, other former patients of the dentist are coming to his defence.
“He’s amazing and he’s helped so many people,” said Rob Cochran, a former patient. “This is unfortunate this happened but we’ll see what happens in the end.”
