American weather presenter Al Roker is trying to set a new Guinness World Record.
He is attempting to deliver the longest uninterrupted weather forecast in history.
Roker needs to talk nothing but weather for 34 hours straight. The current official record is 24 hours, although Norwegian weather broadcaster Eli Kari Gjengedal did a 33-hour broadcast in September, but it is not considered official yet.
The #Rokerthon began at 10:05 p.m. ET on Wednesday and will wrap up just after 8 a.m. Friday.
This morning, Roker joined Global BC meteorologist Mark Madryga to give a B.C. forecast.
Roker is only allowed a five-minute break at the end of each hour, which he can choose to stack. He can talk about current weather as well as weather seven days in the past or seven days ahead. Two independent witnesses must also be there at all times.
Aside from setting a new Guinness Record and staying awake, Roker’s goal is to fundraise for armed forces and United States Service Organizations.
