CALGARY- 4000 customers are without power in pockets throughout southern Alberta Sunday, from Cochrane right down to the border.
Fortis Alberta says the hardest hit areas are Cochrane, High River, Claresholm, Lethbridge, Cardston, Taber and Vauxhall.
They say the power outages have been caused by the heavy wet snow that’s wreaked havoc on electrical systems.
There’s been several reports of lines coming down and poles burning.
The snowstorm has now shifted to the east so it’s starting to affect the Brooks area.
Extra crews from surrounding areas have been called to come in and help with repairs to get power back for customers.
There is a possibility that some customers will go without power overnight.
