WHITBY, Ont. – Durham regional police are searching for two teenaged boys after they say a 63-year-old woman’s purse was snatched as she drove her scooter into a senior’s residence in Oshawa.

Police say the incident happened Sunday evening when the disabled woman was entering an apartment building, using her cane to activate the automatic door button outside.

The suspects suddenly approached from behind and stole her purse from the front basket of her scooter.

The victim was not physically injured and the purse was later located behind a nearby building, but valuables contained in a black wallet inside were gone.

The two suspects are described as a white male and a black male, and both are said to be five feet eight inches tall and around 14 or 15 years old.

Investigators are trying to determine if the same suspects are responsible for an assault about an hour earlier on a mentally challenged woman.

In that incident, police say the 52-year-old victim was struck on the head in what is being investigated as an attempted robbery.

The victim was treated in a local hospital for a cut to the head.
