Laval police search for potential prostitution grooming victims

MONTREAL — The police in Laval are searching for possible victims of a man arrested for grooming young women to become prostitutes.

Stephanos Svourenos was arrested on October 22. The 47-year-old is facing human trafficking charges for allegedly procuring young women for prostitution.

Between 2007 and 2011, Svourenos, also known as Steve, is alleged to have solicited potential clients with online advertisements offering the sexual services of young women.

Police said that he recruited his victims via social networks. After they became attached to him, he allegedly asked them to provide sexual services in exchange for money using violence and threats.

During the investigation, a victim indicated that that there may have been other young women.
