DARTMOUTH – Halifax Regional Police are investigating after a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a Dartmouth house, sparking a small fire.

Police were initially called at 9:40 p.m. Saturday night to the residence in the 0-100 block of Farrell Street.

The residents were able to put the fire out and no one was injured, however firefighters did attend the scene.

As police were canvassing the area, they discovered a second incendiary device burning in an empty lot down the street.

“It is believed the suspects were probably going to throw a second one but were scared off by the police responding,” said Sgt. Greg Robertson.

The matter is still under investigation and no arrests have been made. It is unclear how many suspects are involved.

“There were no witnesses at the time and officers did not locate any suspects nearby so nobody has been identified at this point as a suspect,” Robertson said.

“But we’ll continue to investigate and speak to the homeowners and determine what reason if any that home was targeted.”
