EDMONTON – Police have found a stolen silver, light blue Lexus RX350 that reportedly struck an officer and police cruiser before fleeing the scene Tuesday afternoon. The search continues, though, for the hit and run suspect.

The incident happened at about 4:40 p.m. near 118 Avenue and 79 Street.

Officers were responding to a reported fraud at a financial institution, when they spotted the suspect vehicle backing into a parking stall. Police pulled up, facing the vehicle in an attempt to block it. An officer tried to get a male suspect to step out of the vehicle, when the suspect reportedly accelerated.

Police say he struck the front of their cruiser and the leg of the officer, who was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

A woman was later arrested. She’s accused of attempting to cash a fradulent cheque inside the financial institution.
