Daniel Helton was convicted in Lethbridge Provincial court Friday of smuggling.
The 51 year old from Goshen, Ohio, received a $6,000 fine, a 10 year weapons prohibition and his gun was seized.

Helton was arrested July 20th after attempting to cross the border into Canada at the Carway, Alberta crossing.
He hadn’t declared the .40 calibre pistol that officers found concealed inside his vehicle.
