WATCH: Is the problem at a Summerland R-V Park the landlord or the tenant?

A tenant renting a R-V at Summerland’s Pleasant View Motel and RV Park complains he’s living in sub-standard conditions and the landlord is refusing to fix the deficiencies.

Paul Pearcey says he and his wife have no water.

“I have to get water from the neighbour with milk jugs,” says Pearcey. “Nothing works in here. Stove, heat, the air conditioner don’t work. I had to buy my own heater and hot plate.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Pearcey complains the landlord won’t make the necessary repairs. “Not my problem, that’s always Walter’s reply, not my problem.”

But Walter Wang says the problem is Pearcey and his wife, claiming they’re always breaking things. And Wang has an eviction notice for non-payment of rent.

Some of the other tenants agree Pearcey, not Wang, is the issue.

“I’ve been here eight years and it’s been excellent. I’ll take Walter on a platter,” says Rosalann Pedersen.

Lyle Miner, who used to live in Pearcey’s unit, says Pearcy has only himself to blame for any deficiencies. “It was fine when I was living there. It’s all his own doing. There were no broken windows, everything worked,” says Miner.

Wang has had enough of his tenant and the feeling is mutual. Pearcy is moving out.

“I found a place in Kelowna, $850 a month, two bedrooms.”
