UPDATE: Traffic services have cleared the scene.
A woman was hit by a car while attempting to cross a street in Burnaby, suffering serious injuries.
The accident happened at 6:49 a.m. in the 4500-block of Willingdon Avenue. Both northbound and southbound lanes have now been shut down as RCMP traffic services investigate.

The victim was transported to hospital, but her status is unknown at this time.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.
