KELOWNA – We know it’s dangerous and potentially deadly, yet we do it anyway. Talking and texting behind the wheel is an alarming trend that according to experts is only getting worse. According to the latest ICBC numbers it’s actually more deadly than drinking and driving.
“People are dying because of distracted driving and we need people to realize people are dying because of this and they need to leave that phone alone,” says Kelowna RCMP Constable Kris Clark.
Speed remains the top killer in vehicle crashes in the province. Second now is distracted driving followed by impaired driving.
Fines for distracted driving start at $167.
