SASKATOON – A spike in break and enters, mainly in secure parkades in Saskatoon over the past 48 hours, has led to the formation of a police task force.

Police say 11 break-ins have happened since Friday, with items stolen from numerous vehicles at each location.

Officials say the rise in parkade break-ins is part of an overall increase this year in break and enters to residences, businesses and compounds.

So far in September, 169 break-ins have been reported and the total number for the year to the end of August is 1,256, up 208 from the same period last year.
