WINNIPEG – Blue Bomber quarterback Drew Willy has either made a miraculous recovery or he has a really high pain threshold.

Willy was back out on the practice field on Tuesday leading the first team offence for a portion of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ practice. The quarterback left the last game with a sprained shoulder and sat out Sunday’s practice after having a week off with the bye.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“Yeah he threw today and threw pretty well, I thought,” said head coach Mike O’Shea. “These type of injuries, I believe it depends how sore he wakes up and whether he can repeat the performance.”

Willy appeared to still have some zip on his passes but he wasn’t doing interviews after practice.

“It’s really just a question of how he feels as the week progresses,” said O’Shea.

There are still three more days until the Bombers have to decide his playing status and it’s a decision that will probably be left until the last minute.

“I think we’ve seen he’s got a pretty high pain threshold. I think it’s going to come down to functionality.”

If Willy is unable to play Brian Brohm would make his first career CFL start with the Bombers hosting the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday.
