WINNIPEG-An Alberta man is on a mission to unite the country, one portrait at a time. Tim Van Horn has called the road and his RV home for the last six years. His goal is to photograph 54,000 Canadians by Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017.
“It’s a big responsibility trying to capture the essence of Canada,” says Van Horn. “It’s not an easy task because it’s so large.”
Van Horn has already photographed 35,000 Canadians. No two days are the same, and he calls the path he’s chosen ‘living the dream’.
“When I was five-years-old I came up with this idea that I wanted to travel, meet people, learn about their culture, and go on these adventures,” says the photographer. “I never lost track of that dream.”
Supported by public donations through his website, Van Horn’s been across the country five times, and says he’s taken a liking to Winnipeg.
“People in Winnipeg have always been really open to my project.”
