CALGARY – Lethbridge police are issuing a warning to people heading out on the Oldman River.

On Thursday night, four rafters became separated while floating down the waterway. The next morning two of the friends were reported missing after failing to arrive at Pavan Park.

Luckily, they were safely located later that day. The pair was able to get to shore after their inner tube deflated. They covered themselves up with sand and slept on the beach until morning. A camper spotted them and gave them a ride back in to Lethbridge.

Police say all of the rafters were found to be poorly equipped and nobody had personal flotation devices. Officers are advising anyone using the river to use proper judgement and carry proper safety equipment.
