RCMP looking for stolen parakeet that was taken from a Richmond pet store

VANCOUVER – RCMP are looking for a one-year-old parakeet named Sky, who was taken from a Richmond pet store on Aug. 10.

Police say a man walked into Ackroyd Pets and Aquariums, grabbed Sky, stuffed him into a black shopping bag and then ran out of the store.

Sky is a one-year-old male Indian Ringneck Parakeet, with a value of $700. He is approximately 18-20″ long including a lengthy tail, and powder blue in color with a red beak. Sky has certification papers and a metal ringband on one of his legs.

He is an exotic bird, described as “sweet and friendly” by the pet store staff. Cpl. Stephanie Ashton of the Richmond RCMP ways he won’t survive if he is released or escapes.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man, 35-40 years old, approximately 5’10”, with a heavy build and dark hair and glasses. He was wearing a blue and white striped dress shirt, jean shorts, and black sandals.
