VANCOUVER – There are growing concerns a firebug is on the loose in Greater Victoria.
Police say eight fires broke out, all suspicious in nature, starting Sunday night.
They began in Esquimalt with a brush fire. Then crews responded to two shed fires. Over the next couple of hours Victoria firefighters were called out a number of time, responding to a grass fire, two house fires and a shed fire.
No injuries have been reported.
“It’s very concerning for us that these fires are being set,” said Cst. Mike Russell with the Victoria Police. “Even around occupied buildings, let alone occupied buildings themselves. So obviously it’s something we’re definitely paying attention to.”
