SASKATOON – The number of mosquitoes is decreasing but if it is still hard to enjoy time outdoors, that’s because numbers are still well above average for this time of year.
About 117 mosquitoes were trapped nightly by the city last week, down from the previous week but nearly double the three-year average.
The amount of Culex tarsalis caught in the region has, so far, been low.
However, the risk of contracting West Nile virus is still present.
Health officials advise covering up and removing standing water in yards.
