Ground crews and a helicopters are making good progress on a fire that broke out yesterday just west of Harrison Hot Springs.
The fire originally grew to roughly three hectares on steep ground on the south side of Harrison River but according to the Coastal Fire Centre it is 40 per cent contained now.
There are 23 firefighters and one helicopter on the scene fighting the fire. Officials say if the fire moves, it is expected to move uphill and not towards the hot springs.
The Coastal Fire Centre has banned campfires in the area and is asking the public to be extra careful regarding fire danger this weekend.
The fire is believed to be human-caused and is under investigation.
