One man arrested after brazen daylight gold theft in Vancouver

One man is in custody and the gold has been recovered after several display cabinets at a South Granville art gallery were smashed on Monday afternoon.

Police say that shortly after 1 p.m., a man entered the Douglas Reynolds Gallery, and proceeded to smash several display cabinets. He made off with an undisclosed amount of gold.

The suspect fled the scene in a waiting getaway car. Shortly after, police spotted the getaway car and arrested the lone occupant.

Forty-one year-old Harold Jason Amos of Vancouver has now been charged with armed robbery, disguise with intent , possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a  firearm contrary to an order and possession of stolen property.

The alleged driver, fifty-one year-old Scott Robert Deckert of Vancouver, has been charged with one count of armed robbery.
