CALGARY- With the long weekend quickly approaching, RCMP and sheriffs are getting set to patrol the busy highways.
First responders are reminding everyone to drink responsibly, and plan ahead.
“They’re drinking with their friends and their family and they’re having a good time, and then after they’ve been drinking they realize they’ve forgotten to make a plan on how to get home, and make poor choices because of the fact they’ve been drinking,” says Cpl. Darrin Turnbull from Airdrie RCMP. “They get behind the wheel of a car and think they’re fine to drive.
“Tragically, sometimes they’re not.”
There were six injury collisions on the QEII last Canada Day long weekend, and RCMP are asking everyone to take their time and drive with care.
