UPDATE: Police confirm a 31-year-old Kelowna man and 21-year-old Alberta woman have been arrested for possession of stolen property, assault with a weapon and mischief.
“Vernon detachment received a report from a Lost Prevention Officer that they were following a truck up by the hospital with two people in it that had just shoplifted items from Buy Low Foods,” says Vernon RCMP spokesperson, Gord Molendyk.
“While they were looking for the vehicle and occupants they became aware that the Ford truck was reported stolen out of Kelowna. The stolen truck was located at Berry Rd and Hwy 97 with two people still in it. When the officers attempted to initiate a stop, the male driver rammed a patrol car in an attempt to flee,” says Molendyk.
“One of our officers received a minor injury when his car was hit. The suspect driver received a minor glass cut from the window breaking during the apprehension. The two suspects were arrested for PSP, Mischief, and Assault with Weapon.
LAKE COUNTRY — A dramatic take down in Lake Country this afternoon.
It happened at around noon on Highway 97 at Berry Roadm, where police boxed in a white pick-up truck.
Police have taken one man in custody in connection with stolen property.
Early reports said witnesses heard gun shots, but Vernon police say no shots were fired.
