One man is in police custody after a shooting at a home on Eider Street just off McRae Avenue in Mission around 9:30 last night.
RCMP say responded to 911 calls of gunshots and a female yelling for help.
When officers arrived, they found a 69-year-old woman in her driveway being tended to by her neighbors.
She received shotgun wounds to her lower posterior.
The victim identified the shooter as her 70-year-old husband of 50 years.
She was taken to hospital, but is in good condition and expected to fully recover from her injuries.
It was determined the suspect remained inside the home and Abbotsford ERT and the Lower Mainland ERT teams attended to assist.
The man was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect displayed signs of intoxication at the time of his arrest.
He was taken to hospital with minor injuries to his forehead requiring stitches.
It has not been determined at this time if the shooting took place inside or outside the residence.
The suspect’s name has not been released.
