An eight-month-old baby is in stable condition following a fall down a steep embankment in the 6200-block of Marine Drive in West Vancouver, according to West Vancouver Fire Department.
The infant fell down a steep embankment on the Seaview Trail just before 11 a.m. this morning, said West Vancouver assistant fire chief Martin Ernst. A fire crew was sent down the hill and found the infant still in their stroller. The trail, which is a converted rail bed, is known to be popular with joggers and parents with children.
The infant and mother were examined by paramedics and both are in stable condition. Although a full-scale rescue was not needed, Ernst said the baby will be taken to hospital for further assessment.
Even though Ernst said this was a rare occurrence and the trail is usually very safe, they will be investigating to determine if changes to the trail will be needed.
