UPDATE: Arrest made after man stabbed near Oppenheimer Park

A suspect is in custody after a man was stabbed in the neck near Oppenheimer Park on the Downtown Eastside early this morning.

It happened around midnight in the area of East Hastings and Jackson Street.

When police arrived, they found a 41-year-old man suffering from a serious stab wound.

He underwent a surgery and remains in hospital in stable condition.

Police were able to locate surveillance video showing a possible suspect.

Later that morning, police responded to a report of a man in the area of Jackson Street and Alexander who had also been stabbed.

When they arrived, they found a 22-year-old man who appeared to be suffering from a self-inflicted knife wound.

He matched the description of the suspect from the earlier East Hastings Street stabbing.
