BLIND BAY, B.C. — Your mother always taught you to look both ways before crossing the street, but it seems one mother duck in the Shuswap is having a hard time corralling her young to safety.
A Global Okanagan viewer video recounts quite the duck crossing on Centennial Drive, one of the main roads in Blind Bay in the Shuswap.
The duck family attempts to cross the road and while most of the herd makes it to safety after an initial close encounter with a vehicle, one baby duckling is left stranded on the other side.
“Holy smokes run little guy!” the viewer cries during the video.
The duckling makes a second attempt to cross the road and this time is almost taken out by an oncoming jeep.
A sitting duck, now in the middle of the road, the little guy faces a third close encounter, but finally makes it to safety.
The Global viewer is asking all drivers, especially the influx of tourists in the region, to slow down and “have some respect for our furry little friends.”
