Family of murdered Edmonton man puts out plea one year after his death
EDMONTON – The family of a murdered Edmonton man are struggling to come to terms with his death one year later.
“There have been many sleepless nights for my family, as holidays and birthdays go by without our beloved son and brother in our lives,” says Mark Samuels, Justin Mark Samuels father.
Samuels died after being stabbed while at the former Hex Lounge, near 107 Street and 104 Avenue, on May 15, 2013. Police say the 25-year-old was found inside the lounge, on the ground, suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Samuels died a short time later in hospital. Police say a knife-wielding man was last seen running away from the bar on 107 St.
“Based on the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing, it’s readily apparent that Mr. Samuels was specifically targeted by his attacker that evening,” says Det. John Tedeschini with the EPS Homicide Section.
“The attack on Justin was sudden, vicious, and relentless.”
One year later, Justin’s father is putting out a plea to the public “for anyone with information about the violent death of our son to come forward to police.”
Anyone with information about the murder of Justin Samuels is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
