UPDATE: Fatal stabbing in Edmonton’s downtown is city’s latest homicide

EDMONTON – An autopsy has confirmed that 25 year-old Justin Mark Samuels died of stab wounds Wednesday morning, making him the city’s eighth homicide victim.

According to EPS Inspector Dean Hilton, an on-duty officer was flagged down around 1:45 Wednesday morning. The officer was directed to Hex Lounge lounge at 107 Street and 104 Avenue, where Samuels was reportedly stabbed by a knife-wielding male suspect. He died of his injuries at the Royal Alexandra hospital.

Investigators continue to interview patrons and staff members of the lounge.
