EPS homicide detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a young man.
Police were called just after midnight to the McCauley neighbourhood.
EMS arrived on scene first, and found a man lying on the street near the corner of 98 St and 109 A Ave. The man – who’s believed to be in his mid-twenties – died shortly after EMS arrived.
Police were presented with a number of challenges overnight. The area was quite dark, and it was raining, which made investigating the scene more difficult.
“We have no information on suspects, we have no information on the identity of the victim. We really have nothing at this time,” said Inspector Brian Nowlan with the Edmonton Police Service.
The area was blocked off to traffic as police investigated the area. Officers were canvassing the area, speaking with residents, asking if they may have seen or heard anything of note.
Some residents reported hearing a disturbance.
If this death is ruled a homicide it will become Edmonton’s 16th this year.
