Paul Haysom is joining the Global Calgary news team as the new anchor of News Hour Final on weeknights.

Haysom comes to Calgary from B.C. where he was an award-winning anchor and reporter for CHEK-TV on Vancouver Island,  before moving to Global BC where he was a producer and anchor.

A graduate of the Applied Communications program at Camosun College in Victoria, Haysom said he’s excited about living and working in Calgary.

“This is a vibrant city, and one of the friendliest places I’ve ever been. I’m looking forward to immersing myself in the culture, while telling the stories of the people who live here.”

Some of his career highlights include broadcasting live from the thick of the Stanley Cup riots in Vancouver in 2011 and covering the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Last June, he flew in to help the Global Calgary team cover the unprecedented southern Alberta floods.

Away from work, Haysom is an avid hockey player who also loves golf, tennis and running. A collector of vinyl records, he is also trying to master the guitar. However, storytelling and news are his passions.

“Both my parents were journalists. It’s in my blood and always will be.”

Haysom will take the helm of News Hour Final beginning Monday, May 5th.
