Calgary- The lineups started bright and early Saturday morning with over 100 people waiting to embrace their inner geek at this year’s Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo.
The four day event allows fans to mingle with cast members from a number of cult films as well as the creators of some of pop culture’s more iconic characters.
Aris Dinkel was in line at 6:30 a.m. and has been cto the expo before.
“Everybody is like minded when it comes to what they enjoy most,” Dinkel explains. “Pop culture stuff, sci-fi art and stars we come to watch and enjoy.”
Saturday’s events included autograph sessions, costume contests and a promised invasion of the zombie variety.
The evening promised to re-unite cast members from the 1986 Sci-Fi classic Aliens at “Aliens Exposed”.
The event’s communications manager says it’s going to be a record-setting year for attendance.
“We have everything here from comic books, to Dr. Who, to Sci-Fi, to Aliens,” says Alex Kincott. “So it’s no wonder we attract so many people to this awesome show.”
The sold out weekend is expected to draw more than 85,000 people to the Stampede Grounds.
