KELOWNA– The Kelowna Rockets end the season with a 7-3 loss to the Portland Winterhawks at Prospera Place.
The Rockets, enterd game five of the series, trailing 3 games to 1.
It wasn’t a good start for the Rockets, as Portland scored 2 goals in less than 3 minutes and led 2-0 after the first period.
It continued to get worse. Just 24 seconds into the second, Taylor LeIer scored one for the Winterhawks on the power play, giving Portland a 3-0 lead.
Kelowna finally broke through in the second, as Tyson Baillie scored on the powerplay to cut the Winterhawks lead to 3-1.
Just a couple of minutes later, Kelowna’s Jesse Lees blasted one from the point, and scored another power play goal.
It was a one goal game heading into the third.
In the final frame, the Winterhawks managed 4 goals in 7 minutes and 22 seconds.
Kelowna got one back, but it wasn’t enough.
The season ends for the Rockets, with a 7-3 loss to Portland.
